The Educational and Scientific Institute of Military History is a structural subdivision of the National Defence University of Ukraine and, by appointment, carries out the training of operational level military specialists for the structures of military-historical work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, teachers of a higher military school with a Master's Degree. Scientific and Pedagogical workers of the Institute participate in the training of strategic and operational level specialists in all specialties of training at the University, students of courses of professional military education and advanced training, scientific and scientific and pedagogical personnel - PhilosophyDoctors and Doctors of Sciences.

The organization and provision of educational activities at the Institute are carried out by comprehensive educational, methodical, scientific (scientific and technical), organizational, educational and other work by Scientific and Pedagogical and Scientific workers in order to fulfill the order for the training of military specialists in accordance with the standards of higher education.

The main tasks of the Institute:

• Implementation of educational activities, which ensures that officers obtain a higher education with a Master's Degree in specified specialties and specializations for the Armed Forces and other components of the Defence Forces of Ukraine;
• implementation of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities through the conduct of scientific research and ensuring the creative activity of participants in the educational process, training of highly qualified scientific-pedagogical and scientific personnel and use of the obtained results in the educational process;
• personality development through a system of organizational, informational, moral-psychological, pedagogical, legal, cultural-educational and military-social measures, which are aimed at establishing in the participants of the educational process professionally necessary and leadership qualities that will ensure high combat and mobilization readiness of military specialists; moral values, a Ukrainian-centric civic position, a desire for self-development and self-education throughout life.

Structurally, the Institute includes three Departments, Research Center, an Educational part, 2 full-time and part-time courses.
